Breast Reduction

Women with overly large breasts often feel that their lives are restricted both physically and emotionally. Overly large breasts can be a source of physical discomfort, causing back and breast pain, and can often lead to bad posture. A breast reduction procedure can restore proportion to your body and give you more self-confidence and the freedom to lead the life you want to live.

The Procedure For Breast Reduction Surgery

A breast reduction procedure involves reducing the amount of breast tissue whilst uplifting the breast tissue at the same time. In order to achieve the desired outcome there may be a need to reposition the nipple and areola to give the breasts a natural appearance. Breast reduction surgery usually takes 3-6 hours to complete, depending on the size of your breasts. The operation is carried out under general anaesthetic, and you will need to stay in hospital for one or two nights.

Recovery From Breast Reduction Surgery?

Following breast reduction surgery, you will need to take one or two weeks off work, avoiding heavy exercise for several weeks. You will be required to wear a supportive bra (eg a sports bra) for up to 3 months, day and night to keep the breasts well supported whilst healing takes place and ultimately to give you the best possible results..

Mastopexy

There comes a day in every woman’s life when she notices that her breasts are no longer as pert and firm as they used to be. Breast uplift surgery can help women who are satisfied with the size of their chest, but would like to raise and add firmness to their breasts. Breast uplift surgery (Mastopexy) could be the right choice for you if you have one or more of the following conditions:

  • Breasts that are pendulous, but of satisfactory size
  • Breasts that lack substance or firmness
  • Nipples that point downwards, especially if they are positioned below the breast crease
  • Weight loss has changed the size and shape of your breasts

Different sized breasts

Loss of skin’s elasticity, gravity and other factors such as weight loss, pregnancy and breast feeding all take their toll on the shape and firmness of your breasts. However, through breast uplift surgery, you’ll be able to enjoy a younger and shapelier breast contour. The doctor will go through the possibilities based on the current size and shape of your breasts and will also talk you through the benefits and risks of breast uplift surgery. You will be asked about your desired breast shape and size. This will help your surgeon to understand your expectations and determine what’s possible, the size and shape of your breasts, the quality of your skin and the placement of your nipples will be carefully evaluated. In some cases it may be necessary to have a small breast implant, as this will add volume to your breast. If you wish to enlarge your breasts at the same time as you are having them lifted, your surgeon can insert breast implants.
