Thread Lift

Thread lifting

Are you looking for a way to tighten your sagging skin without the downtime that’s related with traditional surgical methods? Nova cosmetic surgery centre’s thread lift procedure is just the perfect choice for you.

As the name would suggest, thread lifts use threads made of clear polypropylene, which are inserted through small incisions using hypodermic needles. These threads have small cones on the end that grab and pull at the skin underneath the surface of the skin to lift and tighten it. These needles are inserted superficially into soft tissues, so that they can grip and pull to reposition the skin.

How does it work?

One type of thread lifting is where the threads can be put into the skin to create a mesh-like pattern to help the skin build new collagen around it. The other type is where threads with small cones, will be inserted individually and used to grip and tighten the skin as needed.

This will prolong its youthful radiance in in younger skins, but will not produce a lift in the conventional sense no matter what age the patient is. However because beauty threads create collagen, the skin does appear to be more firm and tighter. They also boost the effectiveness of other procedures.

What to expect?

Thread lift being a non-invasive procedure is usually performed under local anesthesia. Light sedation sometimes will be given on request.

The procedure involves making small needle stabs in the locations, mostly in the hairline, and inserting the threads under the skin to anchor the ends to lift the skin. There are several variations of the technique to meet individual patient needs. Usually between 2 and 20 threads will be used after accessing the individual situations.

There will be some discomfort, swelling or bruising around the area after the procedure which will gradually subside. You can expect to go home within a few hours of the procedure and be back to normal activities 2 to 3 days later. You can only expect limited enhancements from thread lift and the results can vary greatly from patient to patient.

Reducing possible risks and complications

  • As with any procedure, there are certain risks and complications that may arise following the procedure if not done properly. The experience and skill of the surgeon will contribute significantly to the success of the procedure.
  • Talk to your surgeon about the result you would like to achieve out of this procedure. Your surgeon will tell you if that outcome is possible or reasonable to avoid any risk significantly.
