Female Breast Reduction Surgical Treatment

Breast reduction for Women

Female Breast Reduction Surgical Treatment | Breast reduction for Women

Suffering from painful neck aches; aching shoulders due to painful grooved by clothing straps and intertrigo located under the breasts? Well... Your body is telling you that you need a Breast reduction or a reduction mammoplasty. For many women out there, having big breasts isn't fun.

Who is a good candidate?

  • Women who are generally healthy
  • Non smokers
  • Women who feel that their breasts are too large for the body
  • Those who have a feeling of their breasts being overly heavy
  • Are self-conscious about your breasts to the point where your daily life is affected
  • Those who have reasonable expectations about the results
  • Women who are not pregnant or lactating.

What to expect?

Medications are administered for the patients comfort during the surgery.

Breast reduction incision patterns differ depending on the amount of excess tissue that is to be removed, position of the nipples, and the patient preference. The incision patterns in breast reduction surgeries are:

  • Micro-Incision—the incisions are very small just to allow the liposuction cannula to enter and move around.
  • Donut Incision — the incision is made only around the perimeter of the areola.
  • Keyhole Incision —the incision is made around the perimeter of the areola and vertically down from the areola to the breast crease.
  • Anchor Incision - The incision is made around the areola, vertically from the areola to the breast crease, and horizontally along the breast crease. This the most commonly used incision for breast reduction.

After the incisions are made, the excess tissue is surgically removed, and the remaining breast tissue is reshaped. The nipple and areola remains connected to existing blood and nerve supply in most cases and are repositioned to a natural height. But in certain cases with very large breasts, the entire nipple and areola are removed and then transplanted to a higher position. The incisions are then closed tightening the remaining skin.

Post procedure care:

After the surgery, the patient will be taken to a recovery area where they will be monitored. Small tubes might be placed in the breasts to drain excess fluid in some cases and covered with an elastic bandage or surgical bra.

Usually, the patient can go home the next day after the procedure. However, in some cases, the surgeon may advice the patient to stay in the hospital for 1 to 3 days.
