Breast lift vs Breast augmentation – which is better?

Have you always longed for a bigger cup size? Has age or pregnancy changed the size or shape of your breasts making you dissatisfied with the way you look? Or perhaps an illness or a traumatic accident has left you disfigured? Well…. Whatever may be the reason, there are two major surgical options available namely breast augmentation and breast lift, depending on what you would like to achieve. But the big question here is, which breast procedure is right for you? Let’s see…

Do you want bigger breasts? If yes, then augmentation is the surgical procedure that you should go for.

Breast augmentation and breast implants are two names for the same procedure. This cosmetic procedure involves placing silicone or saline implants into the breast in order to enhance size, shape and volume. Fat transfer is also an option under the umbrella of breast augmentation, for women who are looking for a relatively small increase in breast size and would prefer natural results.

The end result of breast augmentation depends on factors like the size, shape and material of the implants as well as the overall body shape. But the general end result is perkier, fuller breasts that are symmetrical and appealing.

Whereas a breast lift does not involve any implants at all. Rather, the existing breast tissue is manipulated in order to lift and tighten the breast, giving the breasts a more natural contour. Breast lift improves sagging, drooping and mild asymmetries that one may be experiencing due to factors such as age, pregnancy or even illness.

The end result of a breast lift is much more subtle and natural than an augmentation surgery, giving your breasts a more optimally firm and perky look. However, it will not increase your cup size. As that is something only implants can do.

The popularity of combining breast augmentation with breast lift are also at an increase in recent times as women who have had children often benefit the most  from this combined procedure because of the visible changes their bodies undergo during pregnancy and after childbirth.

  • Breast Augmentation and Breast implants are the same procedure
  • Silicone or saline implants are used for enhancement of brests
  • Fat transfer is also an option for natural results
  • Breast lift does not involve any implants
  • Existing breast tissue is manipulated to lift and tighten the breast
  • Gives the breast a natural contour

But….Making the decision to alter ones breasts is extremely personal. Whether you opt for breast augmentation or breast lift or a combination of both, it is important that you feel confident in knowing that you will be on the path to looking and feeling great.

Regardless of your reasons, if you are considering breast enhancement procedure of any kind, it can be difficult to know exactly which procedure or combination of procedures will help you achieve your desired aesthetic goals, which is why, consulting a board-certified plastic surgeon is an important step on your journey to achieving your desired breast enhancement. So, consult a doctor who listens to you, understands your needs, and you feel confident in and have a rapport, to make all the difference for the better in your breast enhancement experience.
