The crusts around each graft will fall out after 10 to 15 days and the transplanted hairs will fall off a week or two later. By the second day, patients are able to resume non strenuous activities, however the face will be fully healed up in a matter of a few days. The transplanted hairs fall out after around 2 weeks and start to regrow at 2 months, continuing to grow for a lifetime.

The goals for beard transplant can vary from minor fillings in of a limited area, to the full restoration of a beard. The procedure can be performed on areas where there is no hair, or on areas where hair growth is thin and more fullness is desired. While not very common, some patients may require another smaller procedure to transplant additional grafts if they desire more than moderate density.
