The model of gem Q-switch has been adopted in the machine. The pigmentation in the lesion tissues could be effectively broken up into pieces and removed by taking advantage of the high energy immediately irradiated by LASER, which is the explosion principle. One part of the pigment (inside the chromophore) will split into tiny granules that can be engulfed by phagocytes of the body. After the digestion of phagocytes it can be excluded from the lymphatic system of the body. Pigment may gradually fade, but complete clearance cannot be guaranteed. Multiple sessions may be needed, and scarring or changes in skin colour can occur.

Moles require a clinical assessment before deciding whether removal is appropriate and which method should be used.
