Who is a candidate?

Arm lift candidates include:

People with significant upper arm skin laxity

Men and women of any age whose weight is relatively stable and who are not overweight

Healthy individuals without any medical conditions that impair healing or increase the risk of surgery

Individuals who do not smoke.

People with positive outlook and realistic expectations

The procedure:

Usually, the procedure is done with general anesthesia.

The surgeon will make incisions on the undersides of the arms depending on the amount of skin removed. The tissues are then tightened and secured with stitches. The surgeon might also use liposuction technique to remove fat.

The patient’s skin will then be draped over the new contours and excess skin will be removed. Stitches or surgical tape will be used to close the incisions.

The patient’s arms will be loosely wrapped in elastic bandages to minimize swelling post-surgery and small tubes might be placed to drain any excess blood or fluid.

After care:

The patient should avoid lifting their arms above shoulder level for three to four weeks.

Physical and athletic activities with arms that might stretch the incisions should be avoided for four to eight weeks post-surgery.

Use of the prescribed medication and topical or oral antibiotics is mandatory to prevent wound infections.
